Stove and oven repairs should always be left to a qualified and licensed stove and oven repair professional. Unless you have some amount of experience with these appliances, it's best not to attempt to fix any problems with your electric or gas stove and oven on your own. If you have handy DIY skills, and know your way around gas and electric appliances, then you can attempt a few simple repairs before you call a professional. Remember however to turn off all power supply before conducting any electric stove or oven repair, and turn off the gas valve as well as the main gas supply in case of a gas oven or stove repairs. An electric oven or stove that refuses to turn on could be linked to a lack of power to the appliance. Look for anything that signals that the oven or stove is receiving power, like a light. If there is no power to the appliance, there may be a blown fuse or circuit breaker in the house. There could also be burning of the wires at the back of the oven or stove or problems with the main wiring connection.
Ovens are frequently prone to burnt baking elements. In case of a burnt baking or broiler element, replacement is your only option, because these elements usually can't be repaired. Other frequent stove and oven repair problems include defective clocks. This problem is more common with non electronic clocks that must be repaired immediately. Although electronic clocks are sturdier, they are often linked to other features of your oven or stove, so when there is any problem with the clock, it affects the entire operation of the appliance. A defective electronic clock will require replacement of not only the clock, but also the circuit board and other components. Other electric oven repair problems can involve the proper use of the oven self cleaning feature, a door that won't close, and a faulty indicator light. All these are problems for your oven repair specialists to handle.
To avoid the need for expensive oven repairs and stove repairs, clean your appliances regularly. Clean the buttons and knobs as well as the surface of the control panel with a non abrasive cleaner. Clean carefully around burners and elements, and look for any signs of blisters on burner coils. Clean the burner drip pans, and replace them every 2 years. The dishwasher (Whirlpool) will not stay running. I push the door in and it starts to run, but then stops... I suspect it is the locking mechanism - needs to be adjusted or replaced. Thanks |
